While doing incline D.B presses today with 55lbs in each hand I lost concentration for 1 second and the one dumbell fell backwards. My shoulder cracked or made some weird noise. It hurt immediately but now after 5 hours my shoulder feels uncomfortable but not in pain. Should I get an MRI??? They take forever to get right? Also if you partially tear your rotator cuff is their a chance it can heal all by itself withought getting surgery. I am scared sh!tless. Just today I was thinking how lucky I was to avoid injury all my life. Please give me some advice on what to do. I've never had an injury like this. I've already decided to not touch another weight for 2 weeks besides on leg day (no sldl's though)

Listen to Spidey Darcy. See am MD, even if you lay off training & the shoulder starts feeling better, you could have an underlying injury that could go from bad to worse. Better to have it checked NOW & take care of the problem than to put it off & possibly be unable to train in the future.

In the mean time you may want to ice it as well as do some gentle self massage and take some anti inflamatories.

As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do--this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord!"

Oooh.... Happy pills are good! Anit-inflammatory, mixed with Pain Killer and Muscle Relaxers...wow! That should do the trick.

If you work hard at rehabbing it you'll be fine.

It is imperative that you have your shoulder examined. I had both of my shoulders surgically repaired after several football injuries. The mobility of the shoulder will depend on the severity of the injury and whether your doctor prescribes rehab or surgery. I personally do not have 100% mobility in either shoulder after surgery.

    Shoulder injury

I've had a shoulder injury, i've dislocated it about 8 times but you learn to live with it, go to a doctor to see how serious it is. With me i can still work the shoulder hard but i cant do some movements with heavy weight. Good luck with it

I damaged my knees in a crunching tackle playing rugby when I was 8 years old, never got it looked at and its never been the same since! It just locks up sometimes and gets stiff!

You should really get it looked at A.S.A.P if I had have known how much agro my knees would be giving me now I would have got it checked out by a doc!

    Patience, Man, patience!

Take your time and make sure you heal all the way. To go back and lift before completely healed may do even more damage.tuttut

Went to the doctors today and he said it was most likely a rotators cuff injury. He said it did not look too bad though. He booked me an ultrasound and an x-ray.

If he thinks the problem is my rotator cuff, why would he make me get an x-ray. Don't x-rays only detect bones?

    Shoulder Injury

most doctors dont have a clue what they are talking about. They second time i dislocted my shoulder i went to a doctor. Because of the dislocation my right trap was a lot smaller because the tissue streched and it became weaker. The doctor saw that and told me it was because of how i was working out, like i developed only on one side.. He told me to stop working out and i did but i ended up going to see a specialist and he helped soooo much, so my advice is make sure you know everything about your injury before working i.e what you can and cant do

Yeah like Lite said- Some MD's are just dumba$$es with a lot of college & a medical license .You know the type person...book smart but absolutely no common sense...
We had a quack Doc here in my town a few years back that diagnosed a man with bleeding from the rectum as simply having hemrrhoids. This know it all did not bother to do any diagnostic tests, MRI', labwork or anything.
Eventually, he changed doctors as his symptoms worsened and he ended up as one of my Hospice patients. He left a wife & a sweet little 3 year old girl behind as he finally lost his fight with what was found out to be colon cancer. He was only 43 years old...
If you don't like what you are hearing from your doctor- Then the hell with'im!!! Get a 2nd opinion & maybe a 3rd.

This is b/s!!! I had such big plans and was progressing great. My x-ray and ultrasound are so far away (july 29th). Around 2 weeks after my injury my shoulder started to feel good so I was happy but it keeps on coming back. I can't sleep on it like I used to always do. I workout legs once a week and obviously my shoulder is not to involved (except lifting the 45 lbs plates). Do you guys think i will lose a lot of strength in my upper body (bench press) if I don't workout my upper body for about 3 months? I can do chin ups and curls without it hurting so do you think I might be able to get away with putting a back day in there? This is frustrating.

find out what exercises don't bother your shoulder and stick with them. can u do dips?
if so then u should be able to at least maintain your strength.
otherwise, yes. if u can't work your chest u will lose a bit of muscle.
