    Dieting with a race coming up - Need advice

    Hey guys, so for about the past 2+ months I've slowly been dieting down and right now my carbs on any given day are between 95g-130g. My energy has been pretty good lately but I have the Tough Mudder race (13 miles, 25 obstacles) this Saturday. My question is should I up my carbs the Friday before to help keep me fueled during the race on Saturday??

    Absolutely yes- no need to go overboard though. The most important thing in my book is a combination of both carbs (lower GI in the morning, higher GI in the afternoon) and a good amount of sodium. The sodium/water load can and will be just as important. Up your overall daily carbs to 150-200 on Thursday, 250-325 on Friday, and try to get over 3000mg sodium friday, with loads of water.

    Sure thing.

    And yes, actually, pizza is pretty much a perfect pre-race food. Anything from 5k's to ultras, it's never let me down.
