The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

His lifting was great. It is surprising to know he still totaled past 2300 despite squatting 35 lbs less than he normally can.

he worked hard for that last pull. I caught all the benches and deadlifts. Probably worth mentioning he missed his 2nd bench @ 600 and came back and got it on the third. Great lifting.

There's a synopsis of his lifts on www.supertraining.tv

Clean, impressive lifts. His build is relatively tall/lean so when he squats/benches or deadlifts the bar has to go so far. Great ROM on all lifts.

Looks like Ed Coan was judging or just a spectator?

You know, I watched the video and while I love Stan I think he got a bit lucky with the judging. He was unable to rack the bar himself on the squat that got passed. His pause on the bench that was passed was the quickest pause I have ever seen.

With that said, the judges gave it to him so he has the lifts and congrats to him. Sometimes the judges giveth, and sometimes they taketh away . You have to take the good with the bad.

Fast bench call, but it looked motionless to me.

I was thinking the same thing with the squat, but didn't want to say anything. IMO the bench was fine. Maybe a tad fast but the bar stopped moving and that's all that should matter. I've seen faster press commands in meets I've competed in.

Gutting out that second attempt at 600 on the bench was impressive. The way that second pull started, I thought no way. Damn, he wanted that total! Way to go after it.

The thing I have to say about calls as an active lifter on a somewhat competitive level, nobody ever says anything about borderline/generous calls on lifters who are on a more beginner to moderate level. When the average "Joe" gets a good call, I don't hear anyone jawing about it on the net. So if you are a good lifter you are supposed to be held to a higher standard? Screw that. Lifters have been getting good and bad calls since this sport started.
