I just moved to a new town with my new wife which means training at a new gym, "the rush". I'd never trained in a commercial gym much at all and it was never busy but this was monday night, national bench and curl day apparently. 50+ people on benches and the db rack but the squat rack was open. What followed was pretty out there for me. I"ll copy from my training log.

500x3 gym was very busy and people actually stopped to watch...
545x3 more people watched more intently....
585x2 took all my reps extra deep today. literally had people high 5ing me i'd never met before after this set. I was pretty shocked and didn't really know what to do.
It was one of the strangest things i'd ever had happen to me in or outside of the gym. It wasn't even a special day in our training, more of a make up day. People just kept coming up to me and my new wife (she squatted 225 for 6x9) and giving high 5's and praise. Apparently they'd never seen 2 people squat to depth before since most of the comments consisted of "you guys go so low!"
haha every once in a great while I have to train at commercial gym when we visit my parents. It's a gym I started lifting at when I was about 16 and I'll get a similar reaction.
I won't lie. I absolutely hate every minute of it. Very distracting.
once got a genuine complimented for the weight i was using for deadlifts..........they were speed pulls....:/

I got the same thing a few years ago...and I was squatting in the low 300.....!!!
Last year, while in Orange, I was trainig at a Fit-something. When I got up to my top set, I looked around, sighted the biggest guy in the gym and asked him for a spot: he looked at bar on the rack, then at me, and said "Are you going to SQUAT that?!?"...ridicolous
Hell I'd probably stop and stare too if I saw a 181'r squatting 585.

lol guys i'm 210-215 right now, about 10-12lbs over what i was when i cut to 181 and don't plan to return. Ironic thing here is i did 675x1 with wraps & belt in the same squat rack a few months ago but nobody was around to see it there. if a squat hits parallel in the woods and nobody sees it....
