    Diet/Prep Coaches

    Bodybuilders,

I would like to know how many of you have worked or working with prep coaches? What do/did you look for? What are/were your concerns? The whole point of this post is to raise awareness on things people should think about before putting immense of trust into a person handling you nutrition.

•Will they provide references of people they are currently working with and people that they have worked with in the past?
•Are their programs customized to each individual?
•Will they give you a specific meal plan or just macros to hit?
•If they give you a meal plan, will they provide a list of appropriate substitutions?
•If they provide a macro guideline, will they provide a list of appropriate food choices?
•How often is the diet adjusted?
•How often is the coach available for consultation if you have questions or concerns?
•Are they available in person, over the phone, or through e-mail?
•If they are only available through e-mail, what kind of turnaround time can you expect on correspondence?
    What is their background?
How long have they been a coach?

These are just a few things. Also if someone gives false promises like gain X amount of weight in 8 weeks or get shredded in 10 weeks, etc... go somewhere else. These are just marketing ploys that thousands of people fall prey to. Until you start working with someone you have no idea of how their body is going to respond. another warning sign is If it seems extreme it probably is. A lot of coaches only focus on the immediate and not the residual effects of a protocol. A coach should always have he best interest of a clients health even if that means telling them they should not compete. I have had some go elsewhere because after their assessments they were in no place physically, emotionally, or mentally to do a contest prep. That would have only made things worse.
