I recently bought some Rhino 2.5M wraps for my upcoming meet. My old pair were basic 2M Elite wraps, not very heavy by any means. I've only squatted with the Rhino's twice, and both times after a couple sets if felt like I pulled something in my hamstrings/inner thigh, just a few inches above my knee. I also noticed slight bruising for a few days afterwards. I've never had this problem using my old wraps.
Any thoughts? Am I wrapping too far up my leg? Too much material behind the knee?
I have wrapped knees beyond tight and had mine tear my skin off but never had any issue. I like mine up high on the leg too. Not impossible though. Maybe try a softer wrap and see if anything Changes?
These are actually fairly soft wraps so I don't think that's the issue. I think I'll just stick with them for my warm-ups/opener and if it feels like shit I'll use my elite wraps. Still would like to know what exactly happened.
The only thing I can think of is you may be pinching a nerve. The bruising is likely just from the overly tight wraps. Did you experience any muscle weakness with this bruising?
Not especially. Just felt like something was sore/strained. Both times it happened to both legs, right in the same spot. I did some light leg curls afterwards and there wasn't any real pain, just really tight/sore.
It happens with tight wraps sometimes....
My overkill wraps just leave cuts and scabs, but a teammate still has a bruise to mid-thigh from getting wrapped super tight at Relentless last week. Different people react differently to tight wraps.
