The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Pneumatic Squat Machine

Anyone else have experience with these? I just found the one down at my local Y. The pressure resistance seems to lose weight constantly, but not fast enough to matter too much. I've just noticed myself being able to practice on my form and do more set not having to worry about the whole set up process. Are there any big drawbacks to these aside from not having to stabilize yourself?

I think the form of resistance is ok, but the one issue with most of those machines is they place your knees is a bad position which places a tremendous amount of pressure on them.

Well, this one looks like those calf machines, with the two arms sticking out that have large pads on the bottom where your shoulders go. The knee position is pretty much wherever I want it to be just like a normal squat. Do you have a picture of the one you're talking about?

I don't, but if you use it and don't feel it is uncomfortable for your knees then have at it.

haha man that's a blast from the past. I remember using those at the local Y when I was in like 7th grade.

Really not the most effective way of training your squat at all but if you enjoy it then no problem.

If it's losing pressure as you go up it's most likely a seal on the unit is bad. Those things are REALLY old
