    Low reps

    if i did low reps for a few weeks,to get my strenght up,then switch to higher reps for growth,would me being able to lift more make me grow more/faster?

    say again? haha you guys are making this more complicated then it sounds. by the way whats low reps and whats high reps.

    Check out my journal man I am currently doing low and high reps. Shooting for strength and hypertrophy. My worksets look like this:

    1st workset: 1-3 reps
    2nd workset: 3-5 reps
    3rd workset: 5-8 reps

    So far things are going okay but it hasnt been long enough for me to make a fair asessment of the program.

    I am similar to monstar that each set i increase my reps but decrease the weight accordingly.

    i do this for everybody part.
    my exprience - joined gym 10 years ago, 6 1/2 years hard weight training exprience.

    I'm doing the exact opposite on my benchpress...

    First set: bar 20 times to fully stretch
    Second set: 10 reps (capable of 15) (bar + 45 plates)
    Third Set: 7-8 reps (bar + 45 + 10 plates)
    Fourth Set: 2-3 reps (bar + 45 + 15 plates)
    Fifth set: 1 rep (bar + 45 + 20 plates)

    Think I'm harming anything by doing it like that? I'm not looking for cuts - just pure strength/muscle.

    i prefer staring heavy. as i can put more effort into the heaviset weight so i get stronger quicker.
    my exprience - joined gym 10 years ago, 6 1/2 years hard weight training exprience.

    I tried what you're talking about, Delvey. For two months what I tried was a low rep strength routine, where I would take my 8 rep max and try to get 5 reps for 5 sets, not going to failure on the first few sets, and increasing the intensity with each workout.

    Strength wise, it worked great. However, I lost a lot of muscle mass. Dropped about 15 pounds. I was lean to begin with, but I probably lost a couple % of body fat. I'm back on a high TUT system, hoping to get my weight back to where it was before.

    Side note: First thing I noticed when I switched back to the bulking phase routine was that I had lost my lactic acid tolerance. I would recommend doing sprints or some form of cardio so the same thing doesn't happen to you.

    For pure size, 8-10 with sloww negs. Fewer sets, higher intensity.
