The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Bench press has returned.

Right, i tore my pec about 2 years ago doing flat bench press, since then I have feared the bench and always used dumbells ( dont ask why i don`t know ) hehe, recently I decide to start doing bench, My first set was on an incline bench as the flat bench was being used, yeah I was lifting pussy weights but I was happy to be at it again.

When I tried flat bench I got a really bad pain in my front delts which lasted for about a minute after i finished the set, the week later I made sure my delts were thoroughly warmed up before the sets but yet again I was in pain doing them, however when I incline bench the pain isnt half as bad ! Any ideas ??

i know inclines arent necessary but it feels a lot safer and less painful!

Sounds like possibly bicepital tendonitis. The culprit is likely squatting. Try squatting with a safety squat bar, or a manta ra on the power bar for a few weeks and see if that helps.

If that doesn't work, then you will probably need to see somebody about it, hope everything works out for you.

Thanks BM, but what the hell is a safety squat bar and a manta ra ?? Bicepital tendonitis huh, I was thinking it was something along the lines of that as its a similar pain to the one i get in my forearms after curls etc..

If you tore your pec a few years ago and benching feels bad, then don't bench. If the incline feels good, then use it.

This is good advice for lifting and other activities in general.

Safety squat bar is a specialized squat bar designed to take stress off the shoulders. It is bent and has 2 posts that come over your shoulders past the neck.

Manta ray is the blue thing that clips on to the squat bar. Most gyms will at least have the manta ray.
