The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Cigars?

What are the negatives to smoking cigars? It's very ocassional that I smoke them. But I still want to know what the negative's are for heavy smokers. I have heard mouth and jaw cancer, but since you don't inhale them you shouldn't be at risk for lung cancer right? Also, anyone have any sort of statistics on what percentage of people that smoke them get mouth or jaw cancer, or wind up with any ill effects? Thanks

Cigars rarely kill people. People smoke cigars till they die and hey usually dont die from smoking. The worst I've heard about really is that they yellow teeth, can cause mild gum disease, and halitosis.

I also read in a Men's health *hangs self* that smoking a cigar post workout basically negates the effects of the workout but I highly doubt that some smoke will hinder protein synthesis and insulin response, etc.

Not to say that smoking anything is good for you, you'll always inhale some of that ****.

Look at George Burns... that guy lived forever and I don't think I've ever seen a picture of him without a cigar.

They do stink though, make your teeth yellow, and it might cause mouth cancer of some sort but that is just a guess so don't quote me.

Oral cancer mainly, but also lung cancer. People inhale more of the smoke than they think. Some people inhale them intentionally.
