The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Getting Rid Of Ear Wax!!

I need some help with earwax buildup.

My left ear has been clogged for a few days now and its not water its wax I think.

Crazy feeling, almost like I am deaf. I always clean my ears with soap and never use Q-tips.

You have to be careful not to pack the wax in further using Qtips. There's a liquid called Cerumenex you can get at a pharmacy. I don't know if it's Over The Counter or prescription. It's got solvents (ethanolamine?) that dissolves the wax.

Have you ever heard of Ear Candles ? I think they were first used by Hopi Indians or something and can be purchased from health shops for about $5.
They pull great chucks of wax from my ears every time.
They are a like a bees - wax tube that burns in your ear and creates a chimney effect to remove the wax. Weird but it works.

i'd go with debrox. you can find it at the drugstore. there should be a little kit, with the debrox drops as well as a rubber syringe to put water in and a kidney tray. the debrox will soften the wax, and then you can flush it out with the syringe. you might need someone's help to do it tho. my little brother always had earwax problems, and that's what my dad used to do.

Bad, bad idea. Ear candles have been around for a long time and they are NOT recommended for removing ear wax. My SO is a hearing specialist and she tells me these things have a very bad rap in the medical community. The only way you should ever remove ear wax yourself is by letting water run in your ear and draining by itself. Putting anything in your ear is a big no-no. tuttut Q-tips can actually make the problem much worse by pushing the wax further in the ear and compacting it. If you think you really have a bad ear wax buildup you should see and ear/nose/throat specialist and they can remove the wax for you *safely*. Don't forget that ear wax is supposed to be there. It keeps your ears free from dirt and acts as an insect repellant (it's true!). Unless you have a large buildup, ear wax is normal and should be present in the ear.

You've never lived until you've gotten a cockroach (live) out of somebody's ear at 3:00 a.m. When they're alive they try to burrow into the ear to get away from light. Possibly one of the most painful things that can happen to you. Well, other than a broken bone, or a gunshot wound, or a stab wound, or a major burn, or childbirth. Well anyway, it's painful. Ouch.

You forgot to add passing a kidney stone to that list.

OMG...thats the most awful thing I could imagine. But then I'm a wuss when it comes to things many times smaller than me - i.e. insects.

Huge (for Northern Ireland standards anyhow) spider in my room last night - couldn't reach it so I sprayed it with airspray....it fell to the floor with an audible thud....couldn't see it then. Moved out of the bedroom that night. Going up now to clear the shi'ite off my floor to see if it's dead.

Oh, cards behind the bar BTW....get yerselves a drink.

Swim. All you have to do is spend an hour or so in the pool swimming (take care of cardio too!) and ANY ear wax will flush right out, not to mention any other accumulations of body gunk.

Makes ya kinda reconsider jumping into the pool again...

Dude tell me about it, I've been having the same problem since I was a little kid (I clean my ears when I shower daily and all), but sometimes (specially during the night) it'll just get cloged up and won't come out.

I've tried Q-Tips, and as you mentioned they just push the wax back in there.. so what I tried is taking the cotton off the Q-Tip and trying it then.. well I removed a lot more earwax, however one time I scratched up my ear and it hurt like living hell for about a week, that taught me my lesson.

I'm still looking for a solution I can do myself... might try the hydrogen peroxide.

take a long sharp needle (like the ones for weaving Yarn) and push it through your ear untill the whole think is inside, twist it to the right 3 times and pull it out...

This is one of the most horrific things I've ever heard or even dreamed of hearing. Cockroaches are #1 on my **** I'm scared of list. I spotted a cockroach one time running on a counter top while hanging out with a couple friends, girls I might add, and I yelled "save yourselves", in all seriousness before running away.
