    ? about Sumo Deadlifts

I just added deads to my workout and I'm constantly leaving the gym with bruised knees. I've read that Sumo Deadlifts can keep me from banging my knees. How far exactly are you suppose to keep your feet?

As far as is comfortable for you andwher you feel the strongest. I can do sumos with max weight withmy feet all the way out to the plates. Some people are in a good 6-8" on each side. Experiment with it. Also, turn your feet out so your knees aren't sticking out to the front.

I can't do sumo deads. I have a more narrow stance. I can pull 310 with a narrow, but I can only do 250 sumo style. Do they work diff muscles?

Yes. They are different movements. You should be using much more lower back in the conventional and more hip and legs in the sumo(for the most part).

I can pull exactly the same weight both ways as of now.

    But that's half the fun...

We tend to think of Sisyphus as a tragic hero, condemned by the gods to shoulder his rock sweatily up the mountain, and again up the mountain, forever. The truth is that Sisyphus is in love with the rock. He cherishes every roughness and every ounce of it. He talks to it, sings to it. It has become the mysterious Other. He even dreams of it as he sleepwalks upward. Life is unimaginable without it, looming always above him like a huge gray moon. He doesn’t realize that at any moment he is permitted to step aside, let the rock hurtle to the bottom, and go home.
