    My dumb question : One Arm DB Rows and Lying Dumbell Rows

    I think I could focus better with the Lying Dumbell Rows but I don't think I've ever seen anyone actually do them. Currently I've been using the One Arm Dumbell Rows and by the end of the set I can't focus well on my back.


    Any comments? Thanks.

    I've seen those done often on an incline bench,havent done them myself though

    Ya i have done it on the incline too. Hmm looks like a new exercise I just learned. Strange cause i can do 90lbs for 6 reps on the one arm rows(in each hand). And can barely do 150lbs in barbell rows.

    I prefer regular dumbbell rows, if only because few gyms have a bench high enough to let me do the others.

    How do you mean, you can't focus well on your back? The thing to remember is that you're just trying to pull your elbow back and up to your side, not trying to pull the dumbbell to your chest. Isolate the lats, get a full extension at the bottom, and take them slow and controlled.

    I think it's the whole "prop myself up with the other arm" deal. I'll get used to them.

    Thanks for the advice B- I tried concentrating on pulling my elbow and it was a 100% improvement.
