The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Calf troubles.

Just wondering if anybody has an idea of what might be wrong with my friggin legs.

Whenever i walk, especially when I walk fast I get a real dull pain ( kinda like a slight cramp ) in my calf region. I sometimes have to stop and massage it as it gets really tight and stiff. I remember about 3 years ago I did an eight mile run and when i eventually finished the race I had to walk around on my tiptoes for about a week, so I assume I tore the calf, could this be why this is happening, scar tissue or something ???

The pain seems to only be in the soleus, oh and may I add that I have totally imbalanced calves. The right calf has a crappy gastrocnemius but the soleus is thick and hard and sticks out quite a lot, the left has a huge gastrocnemius but virtually no soleus...this is very strange, could this be caused by scoleosis? I am currently waiting to have an MRI on my back as I suffer with lower back pain quite a lot.

    Could be your foot alignment.

I had the same issue. orthodics fixed it (among other things)
    Squats work better than supplements.
"You know, if I thought like that, I'd never put more than one plate on the bar for anything, I'd never use bands or chains, I'd never squat to parallel or below, and I'd never let out the slightest grunt when I lift. At some point in your lifting career (assuming you're planning on getting reasonably strong and big), you're going to have to accept that most people think you are some kind of freak." -Sensei

Since you mentioned back pain as well...could be your sciatic nerve.

I'm having the same prob but my pain goes all the way up my leg. I'm waiting on a CAT scan but I'm thinking this is what it could be too. It's a bitch!!!!!

I have problems with my sciatic. If you just stretch it regularly you should be able to avoid them. I have had them since my high school days, but they only show up when I have not properly stretched for a bit. I hope the results from your cat being scanned are good
