The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Help on choosing DB weight compared to BB.

I was using BB on a few excercises but I want to switch to DB on some. Please give me an estimate of the weight I should be using compared to my older one. I do not want to find my max, because I just got finished deconditioning. These are in pounds.

How much would 12@100 on Shrugs (I could do more weight, but had poor form due to BB) be compared to using DBs?

How much would 9@50 on BB French Press (Skull Crushers) be compared to on a single DB Lying Tricep Extension?

How much would 8@110 on BB rows be compared to on bent over DB rows?

    Thanks

Dude, seriously? Take as educated a guess as you can. If you can not do the # of reps you were shooting for, it was too heavy, if it was easy, too light.

You have to experiment for yourself. Everyone responds to db's differently. People could give you some estimates, but i think itd be just as easy to go and see what feels right.

Just an about? I have to find it out, I can't lift the weights due to deconditioning just got over with.

Like for example, would 50lbs per DB on shrugs be the same as 100lbs BB? Or would something more like 40lbs per arm? Just guess like that....

When I switch from BB and DBs I pick Dbs that are half the weight I was lifting with the BB, if I struggle too much I use the next smaller DB, or if it feels light I use the next bigger DB

So you don't wanna get big, do you?

These won't hold true for every exercise. I mean look at it like this people that can bench 315@5 reps are not going to pull of DB Bench @155. As the guy above have told you its a guesstimation, about feel. Just try it!!

Doing 1 rep won't kill you. Figure it out.
