    HST question.

    Just a question. How does only 1 set per muscle group induce hypertrophy? I was under the impression that a few was needed for maximal hypertrophy.

    because of the frequency of the workouts only one set per excercise is needed , and because HST focuses on full-body workouts. If u were to do anymore than 1 set u would most likely overtrain.

    If you read the HST site, it actually explains it. It looks like 1 or 2 sets for the day, but if you add it up by the end of the week, it's more like 6 sets.

    So, instead of completing all the sets in one day, you are spreading them out over the course of the week. It's all on the HST site.

    Actually HST is not 1 set per muscle group, if you look at his suggested workout it is more like 3 sets per muscle group.

    Best,

    I was going to disagree with you, but then I looked back at the suggested workout at Bryan's site. Most individual exercises are done for 1 or 2 sets, but here's the totals per body part per day:

    Legs = 3
    Chest = 3
    Back = 4
    Traps = 1 (so Back = 5)
    Shoulders = 3
    Arms = 4
    Calves = 2
    Abs = 2

    Been thinking about trying this routine. How many set of warm ups should I do? And should I just do warm ups at the beginning and be done with it or should I do it at the beginning of each muscle group? Please help.....

    If you haven't been working out 3x a week before starting HST, my advice would be to eat like a HOG. My basal metabolic rate jumped so high when I did HST that I didn't keep up eating-wise, even though I was eating anything I wanted and drinking 2-3 protein shakes a day. Your mileage may vary.

    You should be eating like you were bulking.
