The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

I like doing traps with shoulders, but my advice is do whatever you like and what works for you.

Back. You do way more indirect trap work on back day than shoulder day.

When you do your shoulders and your lateral raises, bring the weights over your head (while still keeping arms straight) and shrug your shoulders a little bit, that really nails my traps. And just for the record, I do my traps with my delts (with great results).

I do them with back, because they are your back.

I like to do them on both shoulder day and back day. I just use a barbell one day and 'bells on the next.

My shoulder day IS my back day, so it's a no-brainer for me.

to me, following this line of reasoning says if I'm doing INDIRECT work for the traps on back day, I'd rather work the traps DIRECTLY on another day, i.e., shoulder day, to get the best pump possible - which is exactly what I do

however, <FENCE-STRADDLE>I can see the merits of either approach </FENCE-STRADDLE>

oh and JetDog , pump means absolutley nothing it terms of muscle growth/strength. All it is , is a rush of blood to your muscles. I mean if a big pump meant big muscles then we would all be doing 25 rep sets.

OK...look at it this way...honest;y, you can train the traps on either and get results, but here's the hitch: your back, lats, and lower back should add up to more meat than your delts (unless you have a really strange plan). now, to me, it only makes sense to train them with delts as to let them get more attention in the recovery and growth stage. just my opinion. i train traps with delts and have been getting great results. i used to train them with back, but it wasn't as good as it is now with my delts.
