For those of you trying to eat low GI foods, eating too much or the wrong kind of bread can be a problem. In the past, I've always recommended wheat bread, but I've made the transition to a lower GI, and in my opinion, a better tasting bread - OAT BRAN.
Below is the approximate GI of each bread(approximate because different GI listings may tell you slightly different things)
Whole Wheat - 68
Oat Bran - 48
You can find even lower GI breads, but not in your every day grocery store. I'll still recommend wheat over white of course, but this oat bran bread kicks butt. Give it a shot and I doubt you'll go back to wheat.
