The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Kevin: Thanks, man!

Andrew: LOL, I am, but it was my birthday. I make exceptions for fun on that day.

Dave: Why? Because its the most fun you can have in the weight room. I thought everybody knew that.

    Rob: Much appreciated!

Conor: Let me know when and I'll come up. I have family up there and depending on when it is we could meet up. We're going on a cruise in November so I may or may not be around though. Let me know though.

Rene: You are damn right! One of the more enjoyable workouts I've had in a while.

Rick: Megadeth was okay. I was badass getting to see those guys in concert again but the sound sucked. A lot of songs I recognized but it usually wasn't until the chorus or solo's that I could really put a name to it.

    no warmup:
This is getting to be too much of a habit.
There's this I used to know who said "If you don't have time to warm-up, you don't have time to workout..."

    Good advice...

That's too bad. It's always sort of a bummer when you get all psyched up for a show and then it's not perfect, but still cool nonetheless.

    HY.. awesome chart.
I assume Volume is total weight pushed squatting...
How are you measuring Intensity? total reps?

Will, as a scientist, I feel compelled to tell you that your line graph is useless. You didn't include units so I have no idea what that means. You also fail to include a legend, obscure your data with a grey background and have no caption or "callout" explaining your figure. I give you a D for failure to communicate the appropriate data. I'd give you an F but I'm taking into consideration the effort that went into the chart.

    that is all.

    Strong workouts
Remember, to get big, you have to get strong. The two are interconnected. Lift heavy, work hard, and size will come. Like night follows day. It works. Arnold

    Chubs: Charts are good, mmmkay.

bearwolf: Yes, volume equals weights times reps for everything I do above 65% of my 1RM. Intensity is the average weight used as a percentage of my 1RM.

Rene: As a meathead I feel compelled to tell you to dunk you head in the toilet and flush, preferably one with a blue toilet bowl cleaner in it.

If it was for use by the general public I'd put more effort into it. Or if it was really anymore than just a toy for me. It doesn't take into consideration bands, chains or anything else. All it does is give me a very loose interpretation of my workouts in regards to intensity vs. volume. In looking back at some of my previous workouts, both volume and intensity were too high, and very rarely low enough to allow any type of recovery.

Its the actual spread sheet of work that I'm putting the bulk of my efforts into. The spreadsheet is just something fun to look at. You get an "F" for lack of effort in trying to interpret the data. I'll allow you to take the retest in an attempt for a higher grade if you can point out days that didn't follow the typical westside protocol or ME/DE work.

    Biyotch.

Bill: Still lacking but getting better. Thanks.
