When doing tricep extensions(standing),how come only the lower end of the tricep(near elbow) feels like its being worked, and no where else?
Unless I've slipped a brain cell, its because that's where it attaches to the lower part of your arm (radius/ulna)...
when you lift your arm up and try to extend your elbow joint, the part of your tricep that attaches into your shoulder isn't moving... it's just stabilizing. The act of extending and straightening your arm requires your triceps to pull on its attachment point on the lower arm through the elbow joint as it contracts. If you haven't done this much before, the tendons at this attachment may be a bit irritated at being asked to work so hard.
ok,thanx.i thought the whole tricep is worked
you just FEEL it more at the end because of the biomechanics involved
i feel it in my whole tricep now.aches more at the top than the bottom
