The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Tanning

Not sure if this is the right place to post it, but its kinda related to training...
I've got pretty fair skin, winters coming up (so no sun) and im pretty white, so far what ive heard from a few girls is: get a tan, and ur sorted. Obviously I don't beleieve that cos im nowhere near big enough. Are sunbeds safe? I don't really wanna use fake tan stuff cos it'd be too obvious and it'd probably cost a bit.
    What do you guys/gals recommend?

I use Neutrogena Sunless tanning foam. I don't see what's obvious about it, works fine. Just have to reapply it every few days or your skin starts turning spotty until all of the tan is gone.

Yeah, I pretty much knew they were unsafe, was just wondering what you guys views on it were... Im studying physics for a-levels, and EM radiation cooking yer skin isnt exactly good...
One question though: Is it less safe than sitting out in the sun? Sit out in the sun too long and you'll still get overexposure to UV, just possibly with different wavelengths blocked out by the ozone layer... Why can't the sunbed manufacturers recreate the suns radiating effect in the form of a sunbed?
Ah whatever, its all bent, might just go for tanning cream stuff, but I think the effort required to use it all the time is a bit difficult ;/
