    The Importance of filling your stomach up with air before deadlifting.

    Does anybody fill their stomach up with air before deadlifting? I did this and I could lift alot more.

    yeah, stabilizes you. I forgot to the last few times and found it harder to pull

    The amount of oxygen you are taking into your sysem helps the lift as well.

    I remember hearing that as well, say to push your gut against the belt to make sure that your core is 'tight'...or somehting like that....i dunno

    Both! Look in the mirror and take a deep breath. If your shoulders move, you're not breathing right. Fill your gut and push out with your abs. The idea is that it will shove against your hips and help start the ascent. It actually works, but don't try to do reps like that or you'll pass out.

    i never use a belt for DLs but i gotta use them for shoulders and squats...wierd

    I don't use a belt either. But it helps you learn how to use your belly if you lift with your belt one notch loose.
