Does anyone have thoughts on how much BF you can lose in 4 and or 6 weeks? If your diet and exercise program is tight, what is a realistic goal? I know everyone is different and I also know it depends on what % you are currently, but I was wondering if there is a rule of thumb to go by like when losing weight they say it's safe to lose 1-2 lbs per week. Also, how often should you have your body fat tested to "see" your results? I'm thinking every six weeks. Thoughts please.
I test mine whenever I feel the urge, and I've seen changes in as little as a week. I could be wrong, since I'm a male, but females tend to lose fat grudgingly, and regardless of how fast you lose it, you don't to get any lower than 16%.
My girlfriend got down to about 13% and her period stopped and her hormones couldnt deliver. That's also why female gymnasts are built like guys and don't have their periods. Maybe something to think about. Shoot for a number, not for an amount to lose.
it all depends...it is 2x a hard to get to a new low body fat % if you haven't been that low before
shoot for a drop of 1-1.5 lbs a week. the slower fat loss occurs the more LBM will be spared
Over the last 8 weeks I have lost inches, but only 2 lbs. I am 118 lbs. I thought it would be better to track my results by body fat since I don't have a lot of weight to lose in the first place. I'm getting tested this weekend.
if you have just started resistance training you will most likely gain a good amount of LBM at first. so the scale can be very deceiving. once you get your bf tested it will be easier to determine what exactly is going on.
at only 118 lbs it would seem that you do not have much to lose

Ever think of the possibility that your glutes are just genetically shaped that way and fat isn't playing a major role?
At 118 pounds, you'd have to be really small to be packin much fat.
I had a friend take my body fat two weeks ago and it was 22%!!!!Not sure how accurate it is so I am having it done Saturday. I am 118, 5'4", 24.5 waist and 35.5 hips (killing me). I'll be able to discuss more when I get the results.

At 5'10" last Jan/02 I was 280 Lbs with a 44 waist.
Now as of Dec/02 I am 210 with a 34-36 waist. A year complete 70 pounds lost now lets get big .

J-Lo is a pretty fit woman w/ that butt of hers. It can all just come down to genetics, doesn't mean you're fat. At 118, I'd imagine you are already quite thin.

there is nothing wrong with a woman having a 22% bf. My advice would be to beef up the rest of your body (remember when i say beef up women really cant get that big naturally) to bring the rest of you in proportion with your booty
also if your in luck as a recent poll in general chat found the booty to be way high on the priority scale
Women tend to have naturally higher body fats, and a higher body fat for a female isn't bad, women have certain areas that are made entirely of body fat. And I also agree with Saturday Fever, in that genetics might play a role in it too.
Second place is just a generic term your mom created to make you not feel bad about losing, because second place is actually first loser!
