Does anybody know what might cause this?

I've noticed that in the past few months, that I've been sleeping sometimes anywhere between 10-12 hours every night. I go to night school now, and don't have to go but so many hours per week, so I don't really have to get up or go to bed at any certain hour, usually I go to bed at like 4:00am and get up around 3:00 or 4:00. What could be causing this? I feel like crap usually after I wake up too...

Ah, the charms of an altered work/sleep schedule. When I worked evenings (3-11) I was too wound up to go to sleep until almost sunrise. I didn't sleep so well during the morning, and I stayed in bed almost until it was time to go to work again.

When I worked nights I didn't sleep well either. Once I woke up about 4:00 I had too little motivation or energy until I went to work again that night. It was better than working evenings, though.

It might help to find something that makes you get up at a certain time every day and get you out of the house. Maybe working out with a friend at a certain time.

What I like about my current work schedule is that I have to get up every day at almost the same time to go see patients in the hospital. It gets me out of bed and out of the house. I might come back home and take a nap, but I don't stay in bed for hours on end and never get going during the day.

Yeah, I actually figured it had something to do with it actually being dark outside when I get up, or almost dark, and I wasn't getting many daylight hours.

Just whatever you do, don't take Ambien for it. That stuff should never be prescribed. *shudder*

I currently take Trazodone 150mg at bedtime every night, whether I take it or not I still sleep a long time.
