The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    How has BB changed you?

I've found BB has given me some self confidence and increased my self esteem. In that way, it's a good thing. But I also know of a person who used to be shy and quiet and generally a good person, and now they are egotistical and so full of themselves it's disgusting.

This person has actually changed into such a narcissist that I don't enjoy thier company anymore. In taking care of themselves and getting attention from other people on these message boards, this person turned into a major attention whore. If the conversation doesn't revolve around them and how good they look, this person isn't interested.

It's too bad because this person has a great family that gets treated like **** because they would rather talk to thier new buddies online than spend any time with the family.

What started as a great thing to bring someone out of thier shell and meet new people, has turned this person into an egomaniac and attention whore who cares about nothing but themselves.

    Thanks for letting me rant.

I'm with tryska and Workhorse, increased confidence, feel healthier, stonger, gained knowledge, feel happier etc...

    It's all good things
"It is often said, mainly by the "no-contests", that although there is no positive evidence for the existence of God, nor is there evidence against his existence. So it is best to keep an open mind and be agnostic. At first sight that seems an unassailable position, at least in the weak sense of Pascal's wager. But on second thought it seems a cop-out, because the same could be said of Father Christmas and tooth fairies. There may be fairies at the bottom of the garden. There is no evidence for it, but you can't prove that there aren't any, so shouldn't we be agnostic with respect to fairies?"

    Richard Dawkins

"Out of all of the sects in the world, we notice an uncanny coincidence: the overwhelming majority just happen to choose the one that their parents belong to. Not the sect that has the best evidence in its favour, the best miracles, the best moral code, the best cathedral, the best stained glass, the best music: when it comes to choosing from the smorgasbord of available religions, their potential virtues seem to count for nothing, compared to the matter of heredity. This is an unmistakable fact; nobody could seriously deny it. Yet people with full knowledge of the arbitrary nature of this heredity, somehow manage to go on believing in their religion, often with such fanaticism that they are prepared to murder people who follow a different one."

360 degrees? So that means you're right back where you started? Or do you mean 180 degrees??

Well, bodybuilding had turned me into a nacissistic attention whore nah, not really for the most part I am the same shy guy I have always been, stumbling over my words with hot girls and blushing and what not, it has given me a whole lot more self confidence, and I have girls come up to more (which is good, cause I probably wouldn't go up to them!!) Plus I actually just feel better physically, I always have energy, feel better, and I haven't been sick (not even a cold) in two years or more! Plus I like the intimidation factor when I put on a tight shirt and goon over people that are pissing me off, hehe.. j/k I'm not really like that
    Let me get this straight...
You get play from the girl of your dreams
PR Shoulder Press using the 3 digit dumbells
Hit up some fun with the guys
    Then get more play
(all in one afternoon/evening I might add.. S)
You are a success my friend . Share your secrets. (Crippy)

It has definately improved confidence levels...althought i was pretty arrogant before getting back into lifting ....but seriously it makes my life so much more orginized in all aspects. Everything kinda falls into place. I think that has been my greatest benifit...and when i wasn't lifting for the last few months...everything just kinda becomes "fuzzy" again....just kinda floatin around gettin thru the day.

    Plus, the chicks dig it!

Turned me into a hermit with only one thing on his mind. Which should be sex since I'm 17, but instead it's just my muscles and only my muscles. Damn you bodybuilding.

It hasn't really changed me, but I do like the extra attention when I do get it.

I am more confident and more accepting of my physique. But, I am also now more obsessive of what I think I could become.

Even tho I love bodybuilding, this girl that im interested in really doesnt like the fact that I work out.

She despises that I take supplements and what not to grow. Most people at my work also kinda make fun 'jokingly' about my training so Im starting to get a negative vibe altogether from my work. Quite annoying altho Im sure I will cope.

What really annoys me is that this girl doesnt like the fact that I workout at such intensity.

Basically I dont think anything will ever happen between us due to the fact that we're so different, altho it doesnt change the fact that I still want to get her in bed with me ;p

Me and a friend have this Gentlemens Club going on with how many ladies we can get in bed with.. just for the hell of it.

    I know, I know.. Im a bastard ;p

Back to topic, bodybuiding of course gives more confidence in the physical look department. Even tho I never want to become as big as professional BBers, I still think their bodies are beautiful in an aesthetic way(not necesarrily attractive).

I know what you mean. The girl I like thinks the same way. She's like "why do you drink that protien stuff? If you need more protien just eat..." Then I'm just like "UGH!". Oh well it is a small thing try to work around it if you think it is worth it. That's what I'm doing. (Not change your routine or anything just talk about other stuff)

I'm a lot stupider now than when I started.

We tend to think of Sisyphus as a tragic hero, condemned by the gods to shoulder his rock sweatily up the mountain, and again up the mountain, forever. The truth is that Sisyphus is in love with the rock. He cherishes every roughness and every ounce of it. He talks to it, sings to it. It has become the mysterious Other. He even dreams of it as he sleepwalks upward. Life is unimaginable without it, looming always above him like a huge gray moon. He doesnít realize that at any moment he is permitted to step aside, let the rock hurtle to the bottom, and go home.

"I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do--this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord!"
