I was doing my back workout yesterday and was about to do some shrugs, when I threw caution to the wind and decided to do some deadlifts instead. I was going to do them for reps but it kinda grew into 1 RM lifts.
I started of with 135 for reps (about 5), with straps. Those felt pretty easy so I moved up to 185. I did 3 of those, with straps still. I put on 4 plates (225) and took off the straps. I put on some gloves. This took some effort but I was still able to get it up w/o too much problem. I added two 25 plates for 275. This took some serious concentration. I really thought I was gonna have problems with grip but doing the alternate grip, 1 palm facing the other away, really helped. Took in a deep breath and tightened my abs. Once I got it moving it was easier to get up it up to the top. Was feeling really good after that! Added 20 more pounds for 295. I took about a six minute break. Stretched some and just tried to get as relaxed as possible. I walked up, got my grip, took some deep breaths and lifted. Again once I got it moving it was smoothe sailing. Not saying it was easy, but after getting the bar moving it got easier. I even got a nice litttle scrape for my efforts. War wound!
I think If I had done the DL's before my back routine I good have done 3 plates maybe a little more. I have to say that was really fun, and my shins were nice and red from the bar rubbing against them. I'm sure this isn't as impressive as some of you on this board, but I was still impressed with myself. I gave myself a pat on that back. Maybe at the end of January I'll try this again. This time I'll set aside a day just for the DL.

At 5'10" last Jan/02 I was 280 Lbs with a 44 waist.
Now as of Dec/02 I am 210 with a 34-36 waist. A year complete 70 pounds lost now lets get big .
