Your Sumo compared to your normal dead

What is everyone's sumo deadlift weigt compared to their conventional deadlift? My is Sumo dl 350x1, normal dl 385x1.

Some people have a higher sumo than a normal deadlift and vice versa. My sumo is probably lower because I just started doing it a couple of weeks ago.

Damn Adam! Crazy---for me my sumo is most likely MUCH stronger than my conventional. I thought everyone was like that. My ROM is a bit less with sumo.

I am the same way B. Except my sumo man right now is 455, and my conventional is probably around 405.

    Oh well.

Hoping for 500 sumo style next Thursday...

My convential suckage form is 405 (3months ago), almost locked out 455 yesterday, but my form looks like SLDL...all lower back...

gonna try sumo and see if my glutes and hams can make me pull better, with a more upright style.

I haven't done deads in a long time. However, sumo is much stronger then convential.
"It is often said, mainly by the "no-contests", that although there is no positive evidence for the existence of God, nor is there evidence against his existence. So it is best to keep an open mind and be agnostic. At first sight that seems an unassailable position, at least in the weak sense of Pascal's wager. But on second thought it seems a cop-out, because the same could be said of Father Christmas and tooth fairies. There may be fairies at the bottom of the garden. There is no evidence for it, but you can't prove that there aren't any, so shouldn't we be agnostic with respect to fairies?"

    Richard Dawkins

"Out of all of the sects in the world, we notice an uncanny coincidence: the overwhelming majority just happen to choose the one that their parents belong to. Not the sect that has the best evidence in its favour, the best miracles, the best moral code, the best cathedral, the best stained glass, the best music: when it comes to choosing from the smorgasbord of available religions, their potential virtues seem to count for nothing, compared to the matter of heredity. This is an unmistakable fact; nobody could seriously deny it. Yet people with full knowledge of the arbitrary nature of this heredity, somehow manage to go on believing in their religion, often with such fanaticism that they are prepared to murder people who follow a different one."

It depends on the person, really. Your build is more determinant to what style will work best.

I'm surprised you haven't hurt yourself. You must have strong spinal erectors.

What makes someones Sumo lower than their conventional? Would it be strength or would it be how they are built?

I think it's the difference in the mechanics of the lift. I guess it's the same thing for Sumo Squats vs Reg Squats.

Yeah I'm surprised my lower is as strong as it is!
take a look at my form - it ain't pretty

I guess doing too many Oly style lifts seems to confuse my form.
but I'm not utilising my glutes and hams, and leg drive so I may try sumo.

Man...your back should be soooo toast! Dunno how you do it. I think if you got your form down you could lift that.

some slight doms in my erectors and rear obilques, but apart from that not too bad.

at least I know my lower back is more than strong enough for any squatting poundage I ever need to do

funny thing is I've never even attempted to SLDL or RDL anywhere near this weight. 210lbs is the highest I've gone

I haven't maxed out on deads in 8 years, but my last heavy set was 425 x 12 of sumos. My conventional is much weaker - 335 x 12.

I'm not sure what hitching is, but that deadlift looked a bit "different". Not that I know exactly how I look as I haven't watched myself dead before, but something about the dead in that mpg looked a bit jerky, or incomplete.

Or maybe that weight is not heavy for him, so the form wasn't what it would be for a near max lift. *shrug*

    It wasn't a complete deadlift I didn't lockout

and it was frigging heavy! What you talking about?!
If it was easy I would have cleaned and jerked it

Its just my crappy form, halfway between a stiff legged deadlift, with a dash of clean pull mixed in
I do a lot of oly lifts, and don't deadlift much, so my form is kinda confused

Damn I was thinking some guys do clean and jerk this weight

    Kind of curious.
People who use sumo how is your squat? Is there a correlation?
    or just seperate issues.
I do conventional and my deadlift is alot higher than my sqaut. But I have been deadlifting longer.
