What would be a decent substitute that works most everything upright rows work? I've hit a plateu for like 6 workouts after making big gains for awhile, and think I need to try a new exercise or something...
I progress better on shrugs for traps. Are you doing them for traps or shoulders? I used to alternate. But I been doing shrugss for close to a year now.
I agree, shrugs would be a good substitute.

lateral raises or L-lateral raises for shoulders

I mainly do upright rows for shoulders. If I wasn't doing them I'd do another rear delt exercise or probably another push. Arnold presses would be a good one I'd do.

High pulls will allow you to use heavier weights for a while which will benefit your uprigt row when you return to them. Use either snatch or clean grip and do them from the hang position.
