you guys really get hung up on semantics to the point of confusing the issue unnecessarily.
Pausing is used in power lifting competition to display control of the weight.
Pausing light weights will probably not hurt you. When I say not to pause I refer to pausing a 1 Rep Max.
However, I would still not recommend pausing with any amount of weight. If you are wanting to work on some static overcome by dynamic then do floor presses, or board presses and pause those. It is safer IMO.
