    My experience with the CKD

    To end my 5.5 week bout with the CKD, I will give my update and what I thought of it.

    I started out at 16.8% BF. I am now 11.5% so I lost about 1% of BF/week. During this time, I did NO morning cardio. A typical week was cardio 3 times/week with working out 5 days/week standard. The cardio was always after working out.

    The CKD can get expensive with buying ALA and the ketostix. I went through two bottles of ketostix and only a bottle or two of ALA because I didn't use a lot of it. I only used it for two weeks.

    The CKD drains the ever lasting crap out of you, at least it did for me. However, once you get used to ketosis, it grows on you and you begin to think it is normal to feel likec crap all the time. It sounds weird, but that is how I felt.

    The CKD made my workouts suffer. At first, I didn't want to even go and when I made myself, I was constantly yawning and tired throughout the entire workout so I was ready to get the hell out of there when my workout was over with. This is the reason I didn't do cardio 5 days/week with my workout. I simply was just too damn tired.

    During my workout and cardio, I would get nausea and feel light headed sometimes. I almost threw up multiple times in the gym doing just light weight. Be prepared for that once you get into ketosis.

    My carbups were pretty much ****. I ate just about whatever I wanted to on Friday and Saturday. I did not watch what I ate at all. My carb up days were definately my downfall. If you want to do the CKD right, don't use your carb up days for cheat days no matter how tempting it is.

    I think that is all I can think of at this point. I just wanted to give you guys a rundown of my experience with the CKD and the results that I got out of it so you guys can learn from my experience.

    You made good progress though, even though it was miserable? I've been low carb dieting for months now, so im used to being slow. Actually, when i was eating alot of carbs, i felt slower than how i do now. Anyway, are you going to keep up with the CKD?

    I felt miserable on the CKD. I was always tired, in a bad mood all the time, etc, etc. My training also suffered greatly. I am now going to start the TKD and see how that works for me. I don't plan on eating A LOT of carbs, just enough to get me through my workouts and have SOME energy throughout the day.

    my lifts are all going up on CKD.

    i'm repping 250 on bench now.. was at 225 before i started about 2 months ago. Gaining 25 lbs on bench while cutting is not bad in my opinion.

    I look and feel a lot more cut than before. I don't know exactly wut my body fat %'s are, but i can tell that it has gone down considerably.

    I don't usually feel too bad/crabby because of the restriction of carbs, but sometimes i get crazy cravings for the sweets/pasta/potatoes.

    Its weird... I do good some days, like today. We went to starbucks, and i was offered a bite of a cookie and i didnt take it, and all i had was water. But others, like last weekend, i would just eat whatever. I've never gotten crabby from carb restriction though.

    I am assuming you only used the ALA for the carb ups right?

    I would recommend working out the two days following the carb up and then a depletion workout at the end of the week before beginning the carb up. IMO your workouts were so hard because you had little or no muscle glycogen towards the end of the week after working out that many days in a row. Not to mention all the cardio.

    Even though it sounds like you had a rough go with the CKD, congrats on the weight loss. Have you thought about going with a more balanced diet instead of the TKD?

    im doing the CKD now as well. i have none of the symptoms that Ace had. i think that the CKD is the way to go. i am with Tiger AK, my work outs are going great, i also gained about 25 pounds on my bench. the only crappy thing is when i carb up on the weekends..thats when i feel the WORST!!!! i feel lethargic, totally out of reality, and my workout today(missed on friday) was horrible. i function much better while in Ketosis than on the carb up. but ive been on it since January, maybe my body is used to it? even when i first started i never had those feelings. usually every monday and part of tuesday i feel kind of sluggish, but about tuesday afternoon i get a burst of energy that never goes away till saturday morning(must be ketosis kicking in!). anyways thats how i am doing with it.

    I used ALA for the first few days of the low carb period to get myself into ketosis faster. The carb up days were pretty much my cheat days.

    I did have a rough time with the CKD and I can't believe that a few people here are actually having strength increases on it. That is just extraordinary to me because I felt soo weak on the CKD almost all the time other than the first few days after carb up.

    i had strength increase on ckd during the first 4 weeks -- but in retrospect it was because my cals were much higher than normal so i was actually gaining. when i adjusted to cutting calorie levels - my lifts, energy and mood were crap. i forewarned my co-workers i was beginning another cutting session ... and it was "oh no!" from everyone. i'm mean without my chocolate.
