I see some people giving stats about arm measurements and stuff. Is this like flexing your bicep and measuring? or is it flexing your arm at your side? or just measuring your relaxed arm at your side? thanks

For most people, it involves lying.

Personally, I flex my arm with my elbow facing out, with my upper arm parallel to the ground, and my lower arm (beneath the elbow) bent so it is pointing back towards my face. Basically the position your arm would be in when you flex to show somone your bicep.

Gyno Rhino "For most people, it involves lying. "

    Lol.

don't worry about a lot of posts as people like to add a couple of inches but the general way most popel measure isas dwillia say, measure the arm when flexed at the biggest point there fore as your arm grows you can meausre the difference better as a wonky tape meausre may effect the results. Though most people take the meausrement cold
Bodybuilding mags often add a couple of inches as well.

If you are looking to post the BIG number, measure right after a arm workout (bi and tri) and try flexing in a couple differant positions. I find my flex a little bigger with a side pose.

The only accurate way to measure your arms is cold (not pumped). A pump can vary, so you would not get an accurate result each time if you measured it pumped. The proper way to measure the arm is to fully flex the arm and measure it about the largest portion. Make sure the tape stays perpendicular to the upper arm as you measure or you will get erroneous results. Gyno is 100% right, most bodybuilders exaggerate their measurements, even Arnold did. So, why not report it accurately so we can all meaningfully compare ourselves.

Measure around the chest and back, under the arms at nipple level. Do not expand the chest, the measurement should be taken relaxed unless you state otherwise (i.e. my relaxed chest is x and expanded y).

    ...

I measure my arm relaxed, hanging at my side, so it should always be accurate. Plus, my arms are skinny right now so that's the appearance I care about now (how it looks when it's just relaxed)

    Thanks

There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman. Some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me. Only an entity --something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours, and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable, I simply am not there. - (American Psycho)

    How to measure your bicep:

    1) Flex bicep

    2) wrap tape measure around highest point.

    3) drop tape measure by accident

    4) Pick up tape measure, re-wrap around arm.

    5) Read measurement, express shock and dismay

    6) Attempt to flex bicep even harder

    7) re-measure, express further shock and dismay

    8) slide tape measure up and down, searching for an area of greater girth

    9) Finally fake an extra .5"

    10) Go to musclemag.com

    11) Add further 1.5" to measurement.

    12) Dispense training advice.

LOL @ Belial...esp the part about dropping the tape and having to try again!
