    Ginseng

I made this thread in Health instead of supps because I wanted to know if this stuff would be good to use if I wanted to pull an all nighter while studying for exams. Has anyone tried this stuff in these circumstances? How did it work, good/bad?
"It is often said, mainly by the "no-contests", that although there is no positive evidence for the existence of God, nor is there evidence against his existence. So it is best to keep an open mind and be agnostic. At first sight that seems an unassailable position, at least in the weak sense of Pascal's wager. But on second thought it seems a cop-out, because the same could be said of Father Christmas and tooth fairies. There may be fairies at the bottom of the garden. There is no evidence for it, but you can't prove that there aren't any, so shouldn't we be agnostic with respect to fairies?"

"Out of all of the sects in the world, we notice an uncanny coincidence: the overwhelming majority just happen to choose the one that their parents belong to. Not the sect that has the best evidence in its favour, the best miracles, the best moral code, the best cathedral, the best stained glass, the best music: when it comes to choosing from the smorgasbord of available religions, their potential virtues seem to count for nothing, compared to the matter of heredity. This is an unmistakable fact; nobody could seriously deny it. Yet people with full knowledge of the arbitrary nature of this heredity, somehow manage to go on believing in their religion, often with such fanaticism that they are prepared to murder people who follow a different one."

I don't think so....... you know, I don't think anything really works that well. Back in the summer I had to stay up for some various reasons, and so I took 600 mg of caffeine along with some no doz....... it didn't work, I almost killed myself driving home.

I take 900mg of Siberian ginseng every day. Its for coping with stress-- I can say it seems to help in that department.

As far as immediate effects, I can't really say that it'll help.

Yeah, I think it's supposed to be a systemic tonic that you take every day for general health - you probably won't feel a bit different from taking it one time.

I've used ginseng (panax ginseng and panax quinquefolias) off and on for several years now. My Dr. recommended I try it when I was complaining of fatigue and recovering from illness.

It worked well for me, in that it seemed to help stabilize my energy levels throughout the day. Since I started lifting weight I've noticed that there may be a slightly faster recovery time between workouts while taking ginseng, but I can't say for sure.

And yes, it is much more effective if taken for a longer period, say 6-12 weeks at a time.

I had to stay up all night to write a paper last semester, I downed a lot of little liquid ginseng bottles (don't know the # mgs), and drank a lot of coffee - I did the paper and crashed after I turned the paper in. It kept me awake, but it probably screwed with my metabolism a bit that night.

I don't have the bottle in front of me, but I take one Ginseng Pill every morning when I'm not cutting (I'm not about to add stimulants to my EC stack), it gives me a small, and fairly unnoticable perk in the morning for class.
