The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

some would say that's excellent intensity!

there are a couple reasons that can happen....lactic acid buildup in the muscles, lifting on an empty stomach, lifting on a full stomach....i'm sure someone has the "official" reason...

but yeah....vomit happens. the only times i've felt nauseous have been on leg days...since it's a fairly large muscle group.....so it can happen with deads too.

Isnt' that a good feeling? I've had that happen before...its your body telling you that you're really pushing the limit...its a good indicator of intensity as Tryska said.

has anyone here seen anyone actually throw up in the gym? that'd be gross.

I saw a guy doing deads and he suddenly got this realy bad nose bleed at the top of the rep, that was cool
half the time I have no idea what you're talking about. the other half, I'm not listening.

I've never actually puked, but my closest has been with every experience of 20 rep squats. I have become so dizzy and light-heaeded I needed to sit down for like 5-10 minutes afterwards. That sux.

That feeling of nausea is not always good. One reason you may be feeling like you are going to vomit is because you are holding your breath during the reps. Remember to breathe out on the concentric portion of the lift, and breathe in on the eccentric portion of the lift. This insures that your brain is getting enough oxygen so you won't get dizzy or as nauseous.

Another reason may be that you are drinking too much water at one time. Try to sip your water constantly, rather than take huge gulps of it at one time.

As far as food is concerned, eat something small about an hour to and hour and a half pre-workout (like and apple or all-bran cereal). This will give you enough energy to get through your workout with intensity, but should be a small enough amount of food so that it is well-digested before you step foot in the gym.

I've had nose bleeds from deadlifting, nausea from squatting, and other assorted workout treats. Nausea on leg day was so bad that between every set I'd have to go out in the Gym parking lot to get fresh air, thinking I was going to puke. It happened out of nowhere, and lasted a couple months. It doesn't happen every leg workout now, but on occasion, I do get nausea on leg day. Just deal with it. It'll go away. My old workout partner used to puke in the gym occasionally. We'd pull a trash can over to the squat rack and set up shop for a half hour. He'd be yacking in the can and I'd be out in the parking lot all hunched over. ISN'T WORKING OUT FUN?

Its lack of conditioning. Your body's cardiovascular system is being challenged by all the stress being placed on it. It'll go away once you become adapted to the higher work level.
