"That means he has 300 pounds of just bone and muscle," Juraszek said. "He's genetically gifted."

Bah dumbass football strength coach...how'd he figure 300 pounds of just bone and muscle. First of all if 89% of his body is not fat that doesn't mean it's all muscle and bone. Unless football players don't retain water or blood or other stuff...

    ...and besides...326lbs @ 89% = 290.14 lbs != 300 lbs.

Bah with stupidity like that I begin to doubt 11%...mebbe he should say 11% with a +/- of 10% variance...

It was probably not a bench with a pause at the bottom, so the PL reference is pointless.

I agree with ElP. Get your #'s straight.

I disagree with both of you. Pointless ? I wouldn't go that far.

Yes Paul, but was it also done without a bench shirt etc.? For me, 700 lbs any way you wanna slice it is fuc*ing amazing! Of course, I must take issue with the 11% bodyfat thing, especially if that face shot was recent. Bodyfat being irrelevant, that is one incredible human being to be benching that much without even specifically training for it. In other words, he plays football, he doesn't powerlift (competitively) or only specialize in the bench press.

Now, what ever gave you that idea? Actually what t-rage said is pretty close to what I was thinking...Still, 700#...I would have to see this to believe it. Not that I'm skeptical or anything like that

    700lbs with:

    2 buddies stabilizing the bar..
1 buddy in the back trying to shrug the damned thing up
2 more guys pushing on his elbows...

Ye never know. I've seen lots of guys claim to be able to bench a certain weight, then when they get ready for a max they say "Well,c'mon, spot me!" You stand behind them, they want a liftoff. You give em a liftoff, the bar slams down on their chest, you pull it off and they say one of two things:

    1) "Bah! Bad day! I got this weight 8 times yesterday!"
    2) "Well, that WAS a bit heavy. I guess my max is about five pounds less."

This guy is probly incredably strong but I highly doubt he did a 700 bench too his chest with a narrow grip and no bench shirt. The routine they say he does for his bench doesn't make sence either, supersetting bench with squats, curls and shoulder presses.
Here's what Ed patterson has to say about it.(His cousin is on the team)

A bench shirt is a shirt made of either polyester or denim. They are very tight when on and they give your shoulders added support when you pause on a bench in competetion. They do add to your poundage too.

    wow

Wow!! I find it slightly hard to believe he benched that much, I mean with pause at the bottom not bouncing the bar, etc. However if he did it, well, I guess some top powelifters have to worry, IIRC, the bench record is 738 or something like that..(?)

Iron Bull Pellechia, I remember that guy. He was this steroid freak that weighed about 240 ish (if I remember that correctly) and claimed these ridiculously heavy lifts, a lot like Greg Kovacs does today. Anyway, he would perform his "lifts" with a spotter who would be doing a bent over row while Pellechia was supposedly "benching" the weight. Haven't heard anything from him in quite some time, wonder if his spotter herniated a disc.....
