The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Don't train upper chest?

How will this hamper me in terms of overall chest size/mass?

    I usually do.

    flat bench
    decline bench
    cable flys/weighted
    dips with weight.

So I don't train upper becuase I can't stand the feeling of my arms getting ready to pop outta the sockets, am I okay?

ummm, maybe do a search on this

Its not that it will hamper nor really help you too much. A chest press is a chest press. You might be able to put more stress on certain parts of the chest muscles but you can't isolate them. Its all a matter of personal perference as to whether you want to do inclines or not.

You hit chest, you hit chest. The whole "upper chest" arguement has been beaten to death. Do a search for it if you want and you'll see what I mean. (It don't exist.).

IMO you hit the chest practically the same with the decline and flat. However that is up to debate and I may get flamed nicely for stating that. I think doing inclined press and flat will help keep a well rounded chest workout, and a well rounded chest too

Ive heard about all the arguments and flaming about people trying to train different parts of your chest. I guess ill add my 2 cents in here.

Your chest is your chest, there is no different muscles in the upper left, or the lower right sections of the pecs. Different exercises will hit the chest in different ways, at different intensity. When you break down your muscles and they are rebuilt, they dont rebuild over certain areas of that particular muscle. You train your whole chest, though you can hit one side or the other to fix irregularities. Im meaning one pec or the other, not certain parts of one pec.

As stated to DEATH - you can't isolate parts of muscles...however reports have claimed using an EMG that decline works the chest "best." But it is really just preference.
