The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Anyone use SAS data tools

Just wondering if anyone out there in an analyst or data related role has had any experience with the SAS line of software solutions?

I usually just mine data directly from SQL Server without any fancy GUI interfaces, and I'm assuming that's what SAS primarily is. Although, I do see that they have data modelling technology such as decision trees and neural nets, which I'm not very experienced in, I dunno if I'd need to know that. But some basic understanding would be cool, or a screen shot or two of the generic interface. I've used Brio before, which I'm thinking is similar to SAS, just a competitor...it basically took over query generation and was a direct means of querying from a data warehouse.

Not sure if anyone here uses this stuff, but if you have any experience with it I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

ElP, is this similar to their statistical analysis tool? I may be confusing this with SPSS (get the two confused). Anyway, if it is, I beta tested the latest version so I'm quite familiar with it.

I'm pretty sure SPSS is something entirely different. It's no big deal anymore anyway. So don't worry about it.

I've used SAS. It sucks. Does that help?

He even dreams of it as he sleepwalks upward. Life is unimaginable without it, looming always above him like a huge gray moon. He doesn’t realize that at any moment he is permitted to step aside, let the rock hurtle to the bottom, and go home.

No. But banks seem to like it a lot. And apparently don't like those who don't know it when looking for project managers.

Although, if you've used it, give me a synopsis of what it's all about. I know SAS is a company, and probably has multiple software solutions, but gimme the jist of it if possible. Or don't.

SPSS is Statistical Package for the Social Sciences and is geared towards performing the types of calculations, tests, analyses used in psychology or sociology studies and the like. In those fields the challenge is trying to convert qualitative factors into quantitative measurements that can be tested using statistical tools...quite a bit different than the types of inherently quantitative processing done by banks.

I use a web-based tool that interfaces with SAS, but I don't know anything about working on the servers themselves

Didn't have a lot of experience with it. It's a statistical analysis tool. I was writing queries to do data mining. To me it looked more or less like a programming language. The user interface is incidental--and sucked. It was like a shell and command prompts and stuff (again, I'm going my memory and I used it only briefly about 7-8 months ago)

Sorry, I couldn't be of more help.
