The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

My system is made of an Alpine Head, Eclipse Speakers, and a JBL amp. It sounds amazing.

With $1500 you can put together a nice sound system. Alpine is the way to go for the head unit. Stay away from Sony!! There car audio stuff isnt the greatest for the money. Stick with the major brands such as Alpine, JBL, Pioneer, Kenwood, etc.

I like the Rockford-Fosgate Amp and JL Audio Subwoofer combo I have in mine. I'd say you should try to get a head unit that has 4V RCA outputs (to help reduce noise getting in to the RCA cables). The ability to play MP3 format files on CDs is a nice feature too. I'm able to fit multiple albums on a single disc that way. Finally, make sure you have a separate nonfading subwoofer output and control within the head unit. I found out real quick that different music is recorded differently and one CD may have a bass level that sounds decent, while another will have the bass totally drown out the rest of the music if it is not adjusted. Therefore, it is always nice to be able to adjust the bass to an acceptable level by the touch of a button when you switch CDs.

You might also want to check your alternator output. I know some vehicles have alternators that don't have much current to spare. If your alternator can't keep up with the sound system, the battery will get drained, the amps will deliver less power (due to the battery giving less voltage than the alternator), and the alternator will likely die in time.

Also, you can usually find better deals than Crutchfield elsewhere online. That alone could save you maybe 500 or so on a 1500 system.

i laugh at that alpine suggestion

what kind of outcome are you looking for?
what kind of music you listen too?
how much space are you willing to give up?
and lastly, what do you drive the car for? (race, work, casual)

The best is the old Soundstream amps and subs. Best for the power rating. If you're in competition they call them cheater amps because they're 1/4 ohm stable

I wouldn't go with a JL audio sub, but I'd definitely go with one of their amps. Then go with a Kicker L7 in a vented box.

1500 should be enuff depends on how good your looking at.
    300 for radio
300 for amps you need 2
    200 for custom box
    150 wires cables
    120 extra battery
300 for subs I say at leat 1000 watts
    800 for in dast TV

My system is loud as hell and worth well over 1500.00.
I say go with SOUNDSTREAM refference series for amps or JL or fostgate. Shop on ebay and dont but from cructhfield or a retail store. Online is much cheaper.

You want a good quality amp. I say get the the JL 1000X1 and the 300X4 Plus One 1000 watt 10 inch W7 sub. If your not going to get a tv 300 is a good price for a head unit.

head units: ////Alpine is the only way to go...I've had a lot of experience with them(head units that is)....pioneer premier series would be my second choice...

amps: Alpine are the only ones I've had so I cant say about other brands. Though mines about 6 years old now and still kicks my buddys $2500 systems ass....quality is always top notch tho a little pricey...

speakers: depending on what kinda music you're into I love theBoston Acoustic pros components...holy jeez. If you're more for quality, clarity, crystal clear highs then invest in these...expensive but worth every penny. If you're just for bass and love the loud thump more than anything than save ur $$ and invest in some nice subs and leave stock speakers....pretty decent for stock in the audi(also they're gonna sound better with a head unit and amp than they do now)...

also order online and gather everything and drive to a professional installer and get a quote for labor. do that until you find someone you feel who'd do a decent job for the least amount of money....

i had 1200(peak) going to 2 relatively cheap (mtx5k's) 15's in a sealed box. my only goal was to set off alarms and be heard coming from several blocks away. it worked great and cost around 1100 dollars including a clarion head unit and all clarion mids/highs. id shop around online, but goto a store to buy. when the **** fails, its alot easier to drive somewhere and get new stuff then to send it in.

Honestly I'd go w/an Alpine head unit. I have a Pioneer and love it. As far as amps, I have never been able to find one better than my Fosgate and I have been through like 3 other brands. My subs are 12 inch JL w6's and they bang. I had Kicker Competition VR4's but they didn't hold up. Kickers are still pretty good. A buddy of mine has some Memphis Audio subs and by far they sound the best to me. They also cost a lot more for the top of the line subs but are worth it if you want some serious bang. The magnets on those subs are almost double the size of the ones on my w6's. It all boils down to what you want OVERALL b/c his subs and amps alone cost $1500 and seriously drone out all vocals. My system has a vocal mode on the head unit which usually stays on b/c the bass can be too much a times. I kinda wish I had gone w/one 12 w6 and spent the saving on tweeters and door speakers for better overall sound. Although if you wanna be deaf like me, go w/the JL Audios or the Memphis subs...you won't regret it.

I have 4 10" subs... People just stare and give me dirty looks at a redlight. I act like nothing is going on and just tap my fingers on the steering wheel. I een had a lady run a redlight in front of me becasue I was shaking her car.

Yeah that is always fun too....although I have been pulled over for doing that too but got off w/a warning so no biggie. Cop was like "can you hear it ok?" and I said yeah and sorry and then he was joking around w/me for like 10 minutes asking about competitions and what not. Then he warned me again tuttut and let me go. Cops here are pretty cool.
