I got DOMSin my calves so bad that I can barely walk and am limping around the house and at work. It took 2 days to kick in and it kicked in BAD.
Here's what i did.
Parallel squats 6sets 8reps
Hammy Curls 4*10
Standing Calf Raises 5*12
I can hardly walk but at least I know i trained hard. I saved money too by not going out tonight.!! Got me some chinese food.
Your volume seems pretty high. 6 sets of sqauts plus 5 sets of deads although thats not what would have caused it.
Is 5 sets of 12 your normal calve routine or did you try something new on that day. Did u increase your range of motion or anything like that. Sounds strange that u got it two days later
I don't normally do anything specific for my calves. I was thinking bah, what are calf raises gonna do compared to squats and deads?? I got my answer.
I like high volume.
Add lunges and ballance out the pain by frying your glutes and hams.
