I've been trying to bring my back up to par with my chest lately for the past few monthes though I've came to a halt in progression with chins. The max I can do right now is 8, on a good day.
How many chins can you guys do? Is it normal or wide grip? And how often do you progress up in reps?

I don't do un-weighted chins anymore, but I imagine I could do about 20-22 if I did. Before I started doing weighted chins I could do 20 or so.
Before last week, I did unweighted chins. My maximum was about 17 with a regular grip. My progress was slower with chins than with almost all of my other exercises. I recently started doing weighted chins with a variety of different grips. I plan to slowly increment weights, like I would with any other exercise. It is too early to know how successful this approach will be.
Do weighted chins they help your chins alot!
i can do like 12 unweighted
I can do about 8-10 unweighted
Not really sure, but my best guess would be 25 based on the weighted work I do.

Pullups! They are pullups! At least, I imagine you are talking about pullups. Chins are palms facing you, and not nearly as good as pullups, palms facing away.
Just a nit that I must pick.
Once you get to 15, there's no practical reason to do more unweighted pullups. Strap on the weight. Also, try doing them without wrapping your thumb around the bar to build good grip strength.

i hate watching people do cheater pull ups, kicking their legs and barely going to 90*tuttut
i performed 31 chins last summer, and my strength in chins has gone up a bit. if i trained it really hard, i could probably do between 30 and 35 decent range chins if tempo wasn't an issue (ie quasi-ballistic).

probably about 18 at about 215 pounds.
i prefer to do weighted instead.

I have only done one chin at a time. It has all ways been my dream to get chin action from to girls at once.
Age 23 Height 5'10 weight 210 2 years complete of serious lifting.
At 5'10" last Jan/02 I was 280 Lbs with a 44 waist.
Now as of Dec/02 I am 210 with a 34-36 waist. A year complete 70 pounds lost now lets get big .

I'm doing HST right now and am doing 15reps for 2 sets in there....for the last day I'm gonna do 40 or 45lbs for 2 sets of 15....
