Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do--this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord!"

well I would say yes, but to a certain point.

And genetic would be a big factor, lots of great BB are powerfull and fast, but if you look at powerlifter (ie world strongest man) they are powerfull allright but as for fast? I'd say they are pretty slow.

yeah, it has to do more with your training than anything else.. but once you got more strenght I do believe you can achieve faster movement. Look at sprinters for example... the fastest always are big.

The way that I train I do one day for increasing speed and one for absolute strenght, put these together and you get stronger.

As some of you have said, depends on the training.

Most of you guys need to go back and read his original question. He didn't say anything about increasing mass or size, just strength.

doesnt weight lifting utilize fast twitch muscle fibers? The same ones used for explosive energy like sprinting after someone ect. Look at sprinters then look at cross country runners... the difference in size is amazing.

I think there is some overlap, i.e. training for strength may also give you some secondary increase in speed, and training for speed may also give you some secondary increase in strength.

But I think that depending on your goals, you have to specifically train for whichever is your priority. Sprinters don't train like powerlifters and powerlifters don't spend hours on the track.

And then there's probably the genetics and other factors that make all the generalizations cloudy

No, not necessarily. Why should it? I may be strong, but I am not fast. I don't train to be fast. I train to be strong. Just because I gain mass and strength, does not mean I gain speed.

I MAY gain power, but definitely not speed.

Breeze, Sinep, kAto, Latman... I agree with you.

Hmmm.. No "speed" anywhere in there.

    Now "speed"

    Entry Word: speed
    Function: noun
    Text: 1
Synonyms HASTE 1, celerity, dispatch, expedition, expeditiousness, hurry, hustle, rustle, speediness, swiftness

They mean power in the physics sense--

    P = Work/Time or Force x Velocity

    So yes, they are related.
