    Best Improvement

for those of you that don't know, ElPietro and I have had a little contest going on since March. The goal?

To see who could make the most improvement in their physique.

This isn't *just* about losing weight or losing BF% (although that's a part of it) but rather trying to change the body composition and appearance pretty significantly. Between ourselves, we think it's pretty damned close. We started from different body types and shapes and we both made what we feel is very good progress in the space of 2-3 months. Thus, we are going out to YOU, the WBB membership, to help us call a winner in this contest.

So take a look at the progress pics, and try to judge which transformation you think is more successful. Things to keep in mind:
    - it's not just about who is bigger now/then
    - it's not just about who is leaner now/then
    - it's not just about who lost more weight
    - it's kind of a combination of all of these and other factors that go into the notion of a 'transformation'.

    THE COMPETITORS:

    ElPietro
    Starting weight: ~255 lbs
Ending weight: ~235 lbs (20 lbs lost)

    Progress pics: http://www.wannabebigforums.com/show...threadid=32337

Journal Detailing the Cut starts about here:

    Callahan
    Starting weight: ~228 lbs
Ending weight: ~198 lbs (30 lbs lost)

    Progress pics: http://www.wannabebigforums.com/show...threadid=32479

Journal Detailing the Cut starts about here:

I can't place a vote. You both did an amazing job, and I can't choose between the two. You both deserve to win a blue ribbon.

Oh, just to add that there is $100 on the line, so please either vote seriously or don't vote at all. And yes Doc, that's $100 Canadian dollars.

That is NOT an easy question, and that's no bullsh*t.

But since there's (a miniscule amount) of (play) money on the line, I'll vote.

Should've done it without the post.

We tend to think of Sisyphus as a tragic hero, condemned by the gods to shoulder his rock sweatily up the mountain, and again up the mountain, forever. The truth is that Sisyphus is in love with the rock. He cherishes every roughness and every ounce of it. He talks to it, sings to it. It has become the mysterious Other. He even dreams of it as he sleepwalks upward. Life is unimaginable without it, looming always above him like a huge gray moon. He doesn’t realize that at any moment he is permitted to step aside, let the rock hurtle to the bottom, and go home.

It's not like this has to be private voting, you can say who and why you vote for, if you wish to. I won't hold it against anyone if they feel Cal did a better job, so don't fear voting against me for that, and I'm sure Cal probably feels the same.

Just be as objective as you can, that's all.

    I'd vote draw.

I won't vote. I am always one to try to remain objective. I am generally hard on myself, but I think that it's very close, but if I had to vote, I would vote for myself. But I think voting for oneself is a cheesy thing to do, so I will abstain.

Whether I am biased or not, it's clear we both did ourselves proud, and I'm glad that neither of us blew the other out of the water on this.

No, I don't care if both parties know. Cal took a tremendous amount of fat off his lower back, especially, and in the case of both there is a massive difference. The only difference in my voting was lp's sheer mass, that's what gave him the edge in my eyes. The loss in either case was impressive, and like I said, impossible to call.

I'd like to see these guys after another bulk/cut cycle... then we'll REALLY see what's up.

Well, Cal did just finish bulking before he started this contest, so he was up 14lbs initially.

Rock, I did diet, but probably not as strict as Cal did. Looks like he did very well sticking to a Keto diet. I simply tried to cut down on carbs during the week, and avoid as many bad meals as I could. I *think* I probably did more cardio than Cal did, not too sure though. I did the odd session on the ellyptical, and some thai boxing once or twice a week. I was going to do morning cardio but only managed to get out I think once, or maybe twice.

Cal I agree with you, this is probably too close to call as we discussed in private. We can just put it towards a good steak dinner.

    Rock,

For myself, I stuck to a ketogenic diet with perfect discipline, to which I attribute a large degree of my success. I had exactly 2 'cheat/refeed' days during 3 months, both planned in advance. The comments that BamBam made about me putting a lot of work into it is absolutely true. I was focused and dedicated and it yielded results. I also see this as "Phase One". Phase Two is going to be about leaning up a bit more (down to 190 or so, I reckon) for the 'summer 6-pack' and then a Phase Three will be a controlled, clean bulk starting in September sometime.

I didn't actually add in any real dedicated cardio until my fat/weight losses stalled in mid to late May.

See my journal for more detail and explanation.

I'm actually surprised it's still this close Cal. I expect to have no chance in an internet poll on this site specifically illustrated by the comments above. I get votes against because of past arguments, or calling people gay in jest or just not pulling punches in debate threads.

Also, bambam voting based on who worked harder? It's supposed to be based objectively on the pics alone. But regardless, it kinda bothers me, sure I didn't stick to some preset diet from a book, but I did train on average 7 times during the 5 day work week, which means at least twice I was training two times a day, and did control my diet very well during monday to thursdays. So it disappoints me when someone thinks I was outworked when I certainly worked pretty damned hard.

But anyway, this is the internet, as we are at it's mercy. And we should know people won't read instructions.

Why am I sounding so bitter today. Must be the god damned mystery traffic I had to deal with on the way in. I hate it when I sit there through slow ass traffic, and never pass anything that had caused it. *mutter*

    Thank god it's friday...

peit i said the pics showed that both lost a considerable amount of fat and you did get belials vote on mass alone so to bring up my vote seems a bit off. Cal IMo had to be more strict and followed a plan to the T you did not have too! Both look great but if the fat loss looks the same and you have to choose a winner i will give it to work rather than genetics

for the record, I didn't stick to a preset diet from a book, Mr. Grumpypants. I used the keto book as a guide and modified it based on my experience and reactions on an ongoing basis.
