The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Determining the Value of a Website

I am planning to sell my website this week. It is non-profit site that gets 1-3 million hits per day and about 13,000 unique visitors per day. I have had offers for up to $400/month per banner ad, but have always refused these. It is top ranked at google under its key search term. And second in two related terms. To avoid influincing the sale and for various other reasons, I do not want to give out the URL of the site in this post.

I am having difficulty determing the value of the site and giving a price quote to the potential buyer. I am considering using a website valuation service such as http://www.dotappraiser.com or www.buysellwebsite.com/appraisal/

Any suggestions, links, or information in this matter would be helpful.

You could just put it up on ebay and let the value determine it's self. Just set it at a limit that its worth to you.

hmm...very interesting. the website has no intrensic value to a potential buyer, as you have no banners and what not. if it is a company website selling items then it should have a value easily seen in the profits of your company. vague answer, sorry. cuz not knowing the website makes it tough. best of luck!

I'd say get it appraised, then have your buyer make an offer. If its higher than the appraisal...you make more money, if lower, raise the price.

I have a house I want to sell. I can't tell you anything about it, but what do you think it's worth?

If you really want an answer you need to explain and give details. We are weight trainers, not psychics.

To determine the value of the webiste; I imagine you would need an in depth traffic report, an income/expense summary, as well as the URL. I was not expecting an exact figure or even an estimate. I am looking for websites related to website appraisal, crude formulas for estimating a website's value, general advice, etc.

Thanks. I have requested that the potential buyer make me an offer. I am also looking into getting it appraised. Unfornately the appraisal process may take as long as week, and may cost over $400. They say they can speed it up to one business day for an extra $100.

Take a look at what the website can provide and sell it as a service. It's hard to choose a market value on a service. It's at the mercy of the buyer, more or less. Let him offer and bargain from there.

And if I came off too harsh before I didn't intend to. You just left us a little uninformed, that's all.

I had the site appraised. They estimated its value at $125,000 to $150,000. This is several times more than I expected. I am very glad that I had the appraisal done, as I can use it as a reference when the potential buyers give me the quote. The report was posted online for easy access.

They calculated the figure by determinine the average value of each unique hit, the potential banner ad value, a domain analysis, and a content analysis. Apparently the number of registered members on the messageboard also was a major factor.

I am selling it because the site no longer interests me. I have not been spending much time updating it, so the website is become more outdated and less informative. I do not have time to read and respond to all my email, and complete all the requests. It bothers me to do a poor job at maintaining the site, and to leave so many people unsatisfied.

The potential buyers claim that they are fans of the site who want to build and improve upon it without plastering it with banner ads or doing other things that would make it less enjoyable to visitors. I would like to get out, and this seems like a good opportunity to do so.
