The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

That machine sounds like a ton of fun... wish I had one... I would need far less weight but still plenty of fun I am sure

Why these instead of regular or assisted Dips? Does it change the way the muscle is worked? I have alternated back and forth myself since I really dont like the way either make my shoulders feel.

I have come to realize that every gym is missing something, and what we lack is the station to perform regular dips...the seated dips machine I speak of is basically where you sit and do actual pushdowns. We do have the assisted dips, they are completely out of the question for me.

Where the inclines were concerned last outing, I went back to the movement a second time on a whim since I felt I needed more reps - felt great afterwards, may do this more often with various exercises.

Unreal rows Terry. They shock me everytime I see you post them, that is some jawdropping weight. What angle do you stand when you do these? I know when I go heavy I'm way upright, but I have a weak lower back.

While we're on the subject, what's your preference for depth on inclines. I saw that you were moving some serious weight recently.

Performing strictly horizontal bent over rows with heavy weights is just an injury waiting to happen, but make no mistake, the heavier you go the more upright the movement gets. I have done bb rows up to 5pps but did not appreciate my form at that point.

My bb inclines are done in the 125-130 degree range.

I appreciate the kind words enormously.

    December 27, 2009 - SUNDAY

    LEGS

    SQUATS
    185 x 6, 225 x 6, 265 x 6, 305 x 6
    345 x 5, 395 x 4, 465 x 2

    LYING LEG CURLS
    110 x 6, 130 x 6, 150 x 3, 150 x 3

    DONKEY CALF RAISES
    360 x 15, 360 x 15, 360 x 15

Session was not too focused for two reasons; I took my two teenage nephews with me to the gym to show 'em how it's done, lol - they are here for xmas break from Virginia Beach and we had quality time...plus, I talked a great deal with a couple of members I haven't seen in a while, being that I'm still in the xmas spirit and all.

Nice session man! A "non focused session" for you is still pretty damn intense compared to normal human beings, haha. Keep it up!
