STFU, I was IN Italy for that world cup. I was in 3 different major cities for each Italy victory on the road to the finals. What an amazing party after each game. Unfortunately, when Baggio missed, I've never heard an entire country go so eerily quiet. I was sorta amused, since I'm not some super nationalistic Italian, or mega soccer fan. But it's such an amazing atmosphere to watch soccer in.

I saw an exhibition match before the tourney began. It was between Scotland and some island country. Don't remember which.

The worst thing about that world cup were the american commentators. They simply did not have a clue of the game. They were calling simple passes "vertical side balls" and using all these american football phrases which just sound stupid when used in soccer.
Also the games were scheduled very poorly with a lot of games being played mid afternoon in very high temperatures.
The american public also never really got behind it and the stadiums were half empty for a lot of games.
Also the tournament itself, soccer wise, was only ok

    Romario was class though.

Hey does anyone remember that Franco Baresi sent the ball to the sky during the penalties?? It sort of pisses me off that everyones only puts the blame on Baggio...
