    favorite type of cottage cheese?

    hey,

I must say, all brands are not created equal. I bought breakstone fat free cottage cheese for the first time today, and I was very pleasantly surprised. It is so much better than any comproable brand I have tried so far it is untrue. 13 grams of protein and 7 carbs per serving, and a great dipping implement for various meats. What is your favorite type of cottage cheese, and why?

Giant's generic label (Finast) nonfat small curd (I've never seen large curd). Claims 15g protein, 5g carbs, 0g fat. Regardless of the label, I just love the sharp fresh taste of it. Wal-mart brand nonfat is ok, I prefer the Giant brand. BTW the label on the Wal-mart brand says 12g protein, 6g carb, 0g fat. Is there that much difference between brands, or just their "claims"?

There will be some slight variations in macro breakdowns between the different brands, and I would imagine this is related to process by which the cottage cheese is made.

Breakstone 2% singles...I bought the 4% by mistake once, and it was one of the single worst things I've ever tasted.

I personally love breakstones 2%, but recently I have been eating Friendship brand 1% and it is delicious. It has more protein and less sugar than any other brand that I have seen(16g protein per 1/2 c)

That Friendship brand is pretty good, but my favorites are Light N'Lively 1% and Breakstone 2%.

    I disagree with you completely.

The 2% Breakstones is too watery for my tastest.

    I like the 4% singles (Breakstone's).

    To each his own......
