The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

(And the 1,200 calorie Chipotle chicken burritos right after deadlifting seems to be working)

Awesome. I have been hovering around 300x6-2-2-2 as well. Good luck with your goal.

My form was a little iffy, but it is what it is.
You can learn a lot watching yourself lift.

Great effort, I love thye way you rest at the top. But, I'd probably set the weight fully on the ground and reset a little before the next rep. Some of those were pulling crooked. I know it's harder pulling from a dead stop, but I think it will be much safer for you going forward.

Agreed. This is something I've had to learn as I go.

OK, I gave this some thought, and I think I know what's going on with the double bump at the bottom:

I lift with a mixed grip. Left palm forward, thumb over the bar, and right palm backward, thumb NOT over the bar. I believe that is causing me to open my right hand fingers more, and thus that right side of the bar is lower during the lift. That little gremlin plagues me on lighter weights as well. I think I need to get that right thumb around the bar, even though I don't like how it feels. Because to fix it, I'm pretty sure I'm compensating for it in my shoulders and hips, which is bad. The problem is my right thumb not being wrapped around the bar.

I hesitated to post the vid because I know the form was a little sketchy, but you can really learn things by seeing yourself from a camera's view vs. the mirror. So I'll leave it.

Yea, watching video of yourself like that can really open your eyes to a lot of form issues. I try to get video of myself at least once a week.

Like Off Road said, careful with that wobble at the bottom. Could lead to a problem or lower back tweak real quick. You've probably heard this before but maybe try some shoes with less cushion as well. It will give you a much better base for balance. You can see your feet rock around a bit through each rep. Not to mention deadlifting in running shoes will drastically shorten the life of their effectiveness for running too.

Other than that strong pulling man, I'm just under 3 plates for reps but gotta back off due to knee trouble.
