well, it has quite a bit of fat... and its not the greatest source of fat. i guess it depends on your goals.

Chicken skin is ok. I never eat skinless chicken. We evolved to eat animals so it can't be bad for us.

Here is the breakdown for a chicken breast (87g) with skin:

    Water g 60.430
    Energy kcal 149.640
    Energy kj 626.400
    Protein g 18.140
    Total lipid (fat) g 8.047

    Chicken breast (71g) without skin:

    Water g 53.080
    Energy kcal 78.100
    Energy kj 326.600
    Protein g 16.394
    Total lipid (fat) g 0.880

Chicken skin is pretty much all fat. You would be better off eating skinless chicken and adding in some healthy fats.

where do you even find chicken in the supermarket with the skin on it ? unless you eat thighs and drumsticks, 90% of the chicken breasts sold are boneless and skinless.

and if you are eating fast food chicken thinking that it's "good" for you, it isn't...fast food chicken is loaded with carbs, saturated and trans fats

the skin is bad enough; if you're having Popeye's or KFC, you're compounding the problem by eating skin that has been coated with carbs and salts, and then deep fried in nasty oil

if you're serious about getting a grip on your diet, then find a way to stop eating the skin

your ass will thank you for it.

My bodyfat dropped slightly since eating the skin and a lot of other fatty foods like avacados and nuts. I just reduced the starchy foods.

If you buy chicken with the skin on, it is pretty easy to peel off. You can do it either before or after cooking. I often keep the skin on if I am baking the chicken in the oven to keep it moist.

If you choose to make skinless chicken, you can rub it all over with olive oil to retain as much moisture as possible.

My favorite thing lately is to buy a big bag of frozen chicken breast tenderloins. They defrost quickly and are the juiciest and tenderest part of the chicken breast. Just grab 3 or 4 of them, stick them in the microwave to defrost for 2 minutes, flip and defrost for 2 minutes more. Then, I marinate the tenderloins in some lemon juice with olive oil and saute them on the stove. Fast and easy lean protein with about 1 g of carbs and most of the fat coming from the olive oil.

By saying "fatty", is that good or bad? If you mean those are bad fats, you're wrong. Nuts and avocados have the essential fatty acids which are important.

It's ok I meant good fats and when I say I eat a lot of fatty foods, I am talking quantity not variety. (good fats)

I usually go to the supermarket and buy chicken wings and cook them on the grill, I use some all in one seasons and I'm good to go but I'll stop.
