    Gym in basement...floor not level

    Hey everyone,

    I have put together a gym in my basement. It has just about everything I need, for now, and I love working out down there. However, the basement floor is not level. I would say that over the 100 square feet or so in the gym area, the floor slopes about an inch downward. See, my basement has sort of a crown, and it makes it so that no matter which direction I put the squat rack, I will always be on a side-to-side incline when squatting. I have started looking into self-leveling stuff for concrete floors...just wondering if anyone had any experience with it? Or has a better solution?

    same problem. I was thinking about getting a power rack with a floor then just shim 1 side. The floor hopefully doesn't drop that much in 4 feet.
    Could buy metal plates, diamond cut. Shim one end, if it drops to much place shims along the way for support.

    I recommend getting a big plate of scrap steel or something and shimming that, and then putting the rack and yourself on it. Wood tends to be too flexy, although 2-3 inches of plywood should be stiff enough to squat on and definately strong enough to hold the weight.

    Thanks for the input so far guys. Keep in mind that whatever gets put down will have thick (3/4"-1") rubber over it. It was free

    By a new house...

    Both are good ideas. I think the plywood would be much easier to build and match to the crown in the concrete. Good luck - let us know how it goes.
