    Tipping take-out

On weekends I usually buy take-out sushi/sashimi at this small japaneese reataurant worth in between $30-$50. Everytime I go to pick it up I get this feeling that I should leave them a tip.
I would never tip take-out pizza, should I tip at this place?
    Would you?

    Does anyone else tip there?

    Would bowing ceremoniously be enough?

takeout tipping = 10% from a real restaurant, where employees work for tips.

Is there a little tip cup? Then of course your supposed to tip, thats what its there for. Or is the cashier a hot asian lady? Of course your supposed to tip, thats what shes there for. Is there a little line on the credit card slip for you to enter your tip, again blah blah blah thats what its there for.

But i actually agree with tryska. When I pick up Pho-to-go at my local vietnamese restaraunt, I always leave a tip, albeit smaller than if I had stayed and dined in.

If the service is good, and you like the place, then tip. Don't feel obligated, though.

    Well,
See the thing is, I would not mind tipping the chef since he's done all the work. I don't think the waitress deserves a tip since she has not done anything.
And, no they don't have a little cup, but whe you pay they bring you the little tray as if you were dining there.
I think I will start tipping though, since I really enjoy their food and plan to come back.

the waitress processed your order and bagged it up for you.

a little less effort then serving you through your entire meal, but ti was still time that deserves tips - ergo 10%.

i don't understand how y'all are so resistant to tipping. geez.

I like to tip. The whole "Treat others as you would like to be treated" thing. Its funny when I go out with stingy people who tell me I tip too much. They get too stuck on percentages where I like to tip by customer (thats me) satisfaction.

If I'm ordering from a restaurant with servers working for tips then I'll give them a few bucks. But I'm not going to tip 20% like I would if they waited on me.

Kuba - "I would never tip on take out pizza"

Me neither. I only tip pizza guys when they drive their car over to my place to drop off my meal cause I'm too lazy to pick it up myself
Other than that, when you call in an order to pick up somebody places the order, another makes the pizza and a another person cashes you out on it. No reason to tip there.

On a side note we've had the whole to tip or not to tip arguement and I can't take another one so this is all I'll say
Best way to cheat on deadlifts...

Stand there for a few minutes, then pace back and forth a lot, huff and puff, wait until everybody's looking. Approach the bar. Back off. Approach it again. Back off. Get some water. Chalk up. Approach the bar again. Then spray some more chalk around. Wait until people start losing interest. When nobody's looking, pick it a little off the floor, and slam it down. Jump up and yell "LIGHT WEIGHT BABY". Then give high fives all around. - Belial

I don't see why you should be obligated to, but I would if I was a regular and they treated me well.

People wonder why I call myself Mr. T. One dude asked, 'does the T stand for tough?' I said no. Another dude asked if the T stands for my last name, Tureaud. No it does not. The 'T' in Mr. T stands for tuna. T loves tuna.

I delivered pizza for Domino's in college so I always tip well. That being said, I am tipping for a service and I don't consider someone moving the food from the kitchen to the register a tipable proposition. I would never tip for takeout and the employees should not/do not expect it.

Oh, and for further background, one of my best friends owned his own Thai retaurant and manages a Chinese place.

I have taken Mr. Pink (from Reservoir Dogs)'s thoughts on tipping to heart - why should this group expect tipping when another doesn't? Tip who you want, don't tip who you don't.

I dont think there are any workers in holland that rely on tips for their money. and some places dont let them keep tips.
I dont tip in takeout, or clubs or bars. restaurants I do. I think the whole tipping thing is kinda stupid tho. need more money- ask more money

I usually don't tip on takeout. They only thing I ever take out is fish frys. I'll usually leave the change. Once in awhile if I got there alot I'll leave a buck.
I do tip well for sit down restruants, strippers and bartenders, so I am not a cheap ass.

I am willing to pay for the service. Though its better when you go with a girl, they don't seem to come the table. So you only have to tip at the rail, which is more fun. I like walking up there with a dollar in my mouth.
Florida sucks. You can't touch the girls. I slid a dollar is the strap of her heels. Boaring.

hell in LA you can't get within 3 feet of the girls now.

actually it's irrelevant because it's illegal to tip them anyways.
