The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Squats

Do you think heck squats could be used as a full time replacement for normal squats? Since this would eradicate the problem of getting the barbell onto my shoulders. What weight can u heck squat compared to normal squats?

Also in standing calf raises does the babell have to be positioned on my shoulders or could I hold the bar say in the deadlift position and do calf raises?

One more thing am I the only one who doesn't think leg extensions are a waste of time? since they seem to work my thighs.

There is no replacement for squats.

Do you not have a squat rack available to you?

I believe most people hacksquat a bit less than a full squat. I hack squat about 10-15lbs less than a full squat.

no drew no squat rack which is why I am trying to find an alternative. I can still do squats but i'm not sure if it is to my full potential.

Try doing front squats. You still won't be able to hit your full potential, but it will be much easier to get the weight into position.

I'm not certain, but I think you can get a basic rack for around $100. You may want to check into it. Much safer that way too.

Front squats I think are your best substitute. IMO, leg extensions are useless. I'm sure other people will disagree.

They're only a waste of time if you don't do them right. Of course your biggest gains are going to come from squats and variations of them. But I feel leg extensions are great at targeting the quads. Saying they're useless would be like telling somebody to skip skulls or extensions for Tri's and to use bench as their primary exercise. That's my opinion.
Best way to cheat on deadlifts...

Stand there for a few minutes, then pace back and forth a lot, huff and puff, wait until everybody's looking. Approach the bar. Back off. Approach it again. Back off. Get some water. Chalk up. Approach the bar again. Then spray some more chalk around. Wait until people start losing interest. When nobody's looking, pick it a little off the floor, and slam it down. Jump up and yell "LIGHT WEIGHT BABY". Then give high fives all around. - Belial

My girlfriends starter motor in her car broke. Not having the money to fix it, i had to push it to clutch start it. Well after doing that a couple times a day for two weeks my quads got ridiculously big. Just a thought.
